March 20, 2025
The Olivier Award-winning & record-breaking My Neighbour Totoro opens in London's West End this evening, featuring Kumiko Mendl & Richard Peralta.

This "utterly beguiling" (The Stage) and “jaw-dropping” (Metro) staging of the celebrated 1988 Studio Ghibli animated feature film has been conceived by the Royal Shakespeare Company and Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi, and adapted by Tom Morton-Smith (Oppenheimer).

My Neighbour Totoro is an enchanting coming-of-age story exploring the magical fantasy world of childhood and the transformative power of imagination, as it follows one extraordinary summer in the lives of sisters Satsuki and Mei.

Both Kumiko and Richard plays parts of the Kazego Ensemble, with Kumiko also playing the role of Nurse Emiko. Kumiko is also acting as understudy to Granny Ogaki, and Richard to Hiroshi & Tatsuo.

Originally performed at the Barbican, this West End transfer is now booking until March 29th 2026.
