Yoav is an Arts Foundation winning theatre designer, a BAFTA long-listed art director and D&AD nominated Creative Director His work has been seen on the stage and screens of the National Theatre, Sadler's Wells, the Eden Project, BBC, Sky Arts, Tate Modern, Wembley Stadium and at a host of global film and music festivals.
Yoav set designed the critically acclaimed new stage musical Cable Street at Southwark Playhouse, directed by Adam Lenson, which sold-out soon after opening. It was described by the Guardian as a 'dazzling musical portrait of a community against fascism' and Broadway World reported 'especially impressive is the sequence of ‘The Battle’, where set, props, direction, choreography, and even a touch of puppetry come together to recreate a massive protest using only eleven people.’ It’s returning to Southwark Playhouse in September 2024.
Yoav was co-creator and designer of George the Poet's one-man play George At The National at The Shed, National Theatre. He also recently worked with Chris New on his Pilgrim Plays at the National Theatre's New Works studio. Yoav's scenic projection design work includes: Varmints, directed by Sally Cookson (Sadlers Wells, Stratford Circus, UK tour), In Progress created with Wang-Ramirez and the Olivier nominated Rocio Molina (Sadler's Wells) and Crow created by the team behind WarHorse (Handspring UK, 2012 Cultural Olympiad).
Yoav's work has also been seen on tour with the award-winning beat-box artist Reeps One and behind the legendary DJ Shadow. In 2022 Yoav art-directed the title sequence for Once Upon A Time in Londongrad for Sky Originals, which was long-listed for a BAFTA. Yoav has worked extensively as a creative director in events, TV and film, most recently creating a stop-motion promos for the BBC Sounds.
Yoav's interest in the arts also includes social action and campaigning and his film Irons In The Fire (Sky Arts / Sky 3D), narrated by Idris Elba, called for more creative opportunity for at-risk youth. Yoav was Founding Creative Director of RightsInfo (now EachOther), a social media project bringing human rights understanding to the public through imaginative and creative ideas. He has twice been an Arts Emergency mentor and has worked extensively with Hope not Hate, The Princes Trust and Comic Relief.
In 2020 Yoav received an MA with distinction in Theatre Design from the University of the Arts London, having studied at Wimbeldon College of Arts. He is now taking on design opportunities of every size and shape.
